Botox Helps Treat Bladder Control For Paraplegics

Botox injections now help treat bladder control and incontinence problems for those who rely on catheters. – especially those confined to wheelchairs and are paralyzed from spinal cord injury.

“U.S. Food and Drug administration approved Allegran’s Botox injection for treating patients who have bladder control problems arising from spinal cord injury or multiple sclerosis (MS),” reports the International Business Times.
This is ground breaking news for the paralysis community because their urological needs are a daily hindrance to them living a fully independent life. According to the research provided by Allergan, around 60 to 80 percent of patients with multiple sclerosis or spinal cord injury experience some sort of bladder problem.
A Botox injection will help to treat an overactive bladder by relaxing the muscles within the bladder to allow more space for urine storage. The effects can last for about nine months.
