SCI Patients Can Walk Again, With A Robot

Robotic technology helps parlayed patients walk again, enhancing physical therapy programs all over the nation.

A cutting-edge piece of technology at Carolina’s rehab gives hope to patients who never believed they could walk on their own ever again – and it is all thanks to The Lokomat. “The Lokomat resembles a large weightlifting machine, with a treadmille at the base,” explains the Charlotte Observer, “It’s equipped with leg braces and helps patients move and a body harness that hooks to overhead pulleys and holds patients erect while letting their feet touch the treadmill.”

This new piece of physical therapy equipment for Spinal Cord Injury, Cerebral Palsy and MS patients creates a new sense of hope for them as they can finally see themselves walking on their own.. Something they never thought was possible.
