Ivan Hernandez

I love the comforts of family and home.
I love making patients’ and their families comfortable in their own homes with enhanced accessibility.

As Experea’s Director of Accessibility, Ivan works personally with individuals affected by spinal cord injury (SCI) or other life-altering injury or illness, evaluating their homes to determine how best to improve accessibility and comfort. This allows them to reclaim their lives. He oversees expert contractors and trains them in the specialized ADA guidelines of accessibility and their application to an individual’s unique lifestyle needs. At Experea for more than seven years, Ivan values Experea’s holistic approach. His commitment goes beyond rehabilitation to provide for every aspect of each patient’s recovery – including their own home.

Home life is very important to Ivan, and he shares his own with a wife, three sons, a daughter, a Cocker Spaniel, a Shih Tzu and a hamster. His family spends their free time together – going to the beach, riding motorcycles, traveling, and camping.

Since his own nephew lives with muscular dystrophy, the passion he brings to his job is personally rewarding and enriching. It allows Ivan to educate and support his own sister, improving the home life of his extended family. He says, “It’s especially satisfying to work with families with children, knowing you’re the one to provide the resources, education and hope to help them adapt to the ongoing lifestyle they must now lead.”

But when it comes to thrill seeking, Ivan the family man does it alone. He can check bungee jumping off his list. Next on his list? Solo skydiving, not tandem.
